May 2019 Meeting
For our May 2019 meeting, Mr. Jeff Patrick gave an interesting program titled: "One by One the Boys Pass Away, the Hospital Diary of William Bluffton Miller." In 1862, William Bluffton Miller joined the Union war effort as a member of the 75th Indiana Volunteer Infantry. Early the following year, Miller served as a hospital steward in Gallatin, Tennessee, treating wounded and sick soldiers. In September 1863, Miller was seriously wounded at the Battle of Chickamauga, Georgia, and spent several months recovering in a hospital. Using excerpts from Miller's diary, Mr. Patrick related Miller's experiences as both a caregiver and patient.
