DANIEL R. WEINBERG has been president and sole owner of the Abraham Lincoln Book Shop, Inc. since 1984, having previously been co-owner from 1971. Since 1933, the firm has had international reputation as experts in the buying, selling, appraising, and authentication of historical, artistic, and museum artifacts. The shop has conducted appraisals for libraries, museums, banks, insurance companies, and private collectors.
MR. WEINBERG HAS PERFORMED SPECIAL RESEARCH ASSIGNMENTS for such institutions as The Lincoln Museum, the American Bar Foundation, Brandies University, University of Virginia, WTTW Channel 11 in Chicago, the Chicago Historical Society, the Chicago Public Library, Lincoln College Museum, and others. He has delivered numerous talks on the collecting and value of books and manuscripts as well as determining authenticity of historical documents. He has received the Order of Lincoln from the Lincoln Academy of Illinois. He is a past Advisor to the Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Commission.
HE IS A MEMBER OF NUMEROUS HISTORICAL SOCIETIES AND ASSOCIATIONS INCLUDING: Lincoln Forum; Abraham Lincoln Association; Manuscript Society; Professional Autograph Dealer’s Association (PADA); International Autograph Dealers Association (IADA); Universal Autograph Collector’s Club (UACC, being a past regional director and their 1999 Dealer of the Year); Antiquarian Booksellers Association of America; and American Booksellers Association. He is an officer and past-President of The Civil War Round Table in Chicago.
CURRENTLY Mr. Weinberg is Executive Vice President of the Professional Autograph Dealer's Association, and a Trustee of Lincoln College, Lincoln, Illinois. He sits on the board of the following organizations: Abraham Lincoln Association; Lincoln Forum; The Civil War Round Table (Chicago; past president); Professional Autograph Dealers Association (Executive Vice President); the Lincoln Group of Wisconsin; and the Lincoln Group of Illinois (past-president).
HE IS A TRUSTEE OF LINCOLN COLLEGE in Lincoln Illinois, sitting on the Executive Committee and Chair of the Heritage Committee that oversees the Lincoln Heritage Museum.
HE IS CO-AUTHOR of LINCOLN’S ASSASSINS: THEIR TRIAL AND EXECUTION (Arena Editions: 2001) and has lectured extensively on the subject. He has appeared on both C-Span and the History Channel. Mr. Weinberg pursued his undergraduate work, in history, at Temple University, Philadelphia, and his graduate work, in the same field, at New York University at Washington Square.
